The best place for hovercrafting in the Sydney area, and we are here almost every Sunday is the Georges River/Botany Bay area located near Sydney Airport.
Botany Bay leads into the Georges River which starts at Sylvania Waters and goes all the way to Liverpool and smaller streams run off into Cabramatta. It’s an excellent journey, with a variety of scenery, from chic waterfront homes to old shabby ones, mudflats, mangroves, national parks, sand banks, dirt bike trails, golf courses, and much more.
Further down south, is Port Hacking which is a spectacular area, with waterways leading into pristine waterways of the Royal National Park surrounded by rock cliffs and lush vegetation. The bay leads out to Bundeena and Cronulla.
Rarely we are out on the harbour for a quick cruise, but there is usually too much traffic and choppy waves. We are more inclined to load off at Hen & Chicken Bay and head west on the Parramatta River.
Other nice runs are Lake Illawarra, near Wollongong, Jervis Bay, and up the Shoalhaven River located in Nowra, roaring up rapids, to Tallowa Dam.
